Fundraising & Campaigns

Raise more, and build a program that keeps raising.

I've directed campaigns from $1.1 million to $10 million, including one for an organization that had never received a gift above $250,000. I help your board and staff know what is possible, plan for it, and carry it out.

This may be the right fit if

You're considering a campaign and aren't sure you're ready

Your goal is far larger than any gift you've received

Board giving or major gifts are thin

A campaign has stalled partway

Why readiness comes first

The strongest campaigns are decided before they launch.

A campaign succeeds or stalls on things that can be tested early: who your top prospects are, whether your board will lead with its own gifts, and whether the goal matches the giving you can reasonably expect.

I start by finding out where you stand, then plan a campaign you can carry out, and a fundraising program that outlasts it.

Understand the organization first. Then lead the change it needs.

How I work

From the first conversation to the final gift.

What I do

01

BEFORE YOU LAUNCH

Assess readiness

  • Review giving history, board giving, and top prospects
  • Hold conversations with key leaders and donors
  • Deliver a plain verdict on whether, and when, to proceed

02

PLANNING

Plan the campaign

  • Test the goal against real prospects through a feasibility study
  • Set a gift range, timeline, and leadership structure
  • Prepare the case for support and the board's role

03

CAMPAIGN

Cultivate and ask

  • Build a major gift strategy and cultivate donors
  • Prepare corporate sponsorship and partnership proposals
  • Coach board members and staff for the asks they will make

04

AFTER THE GOAL

Build a program that lasts

  • Write a fund development plan for staff and board
  • Set up donor stewardship and renewal
  • Hand off systems your team can run without me

Raise the money, and the capacity to keep raising it.

A campaign is a good moment to strengthen how your whole organization raises money. I work with your staff and board so that what is built for the campaign stays in place afterward.

For a first look at your readiness, a Campaign Readiness Snapshot gives your board a scorecard and a verdict in 3–4 weeks.

Questions

What boards usually ask.

How do we know if we're ready for a campaign?

Readiness shows in your giving history, how your board gives, and how many real prospects you have at the level your goal requires. A Campaign Readiness Snapshot tests all three and gives you a scorecard.

What if the Snapshot says we're not ready?

Then you've learned it before committing to a campaign, and the scorecard shows what to strengthen first. A clear 'not yet' is a useful result.

Do you work with our staff and board?

Yes. The aim is a campaign your own people can carry, and a development plan for staff and board that remains after the campaign ends.

What does it cost?

Every engagement is scoped to your organization, and I provide a written proposal. Many organizations begin with a Campaign Readiness Snapshot, from $4,000, which is credited toward a full engagement signed within 60 days.

Is your organization campaign-ready?

A one-page self-assessment for boards and development staff.
